Is moss taking over your roof?
Over the years a roof can pick up moss, algae, lichen and general organic growth, especially on shaded or north-facing slopes. It builds slowly, so it often goes unnoticed until the whole house looks tired.
Moss holds moisture against the tiles and sheds into your gutters, so it's worth dealing with before it builds up further. This is what we remove.

How we clean your roof
We choose the method to suit the roof and its access, so not every roof gets the same treatment. Where it helps, a suitable treatment is applied to slow the moss coming back.

- 1
A proper look at your roof
We check the roof covering, its condition, the moss build-up and the best way to access it.
- 2
Careful moss removal
Moss and loose debris are taken off, by hand where the roof and access allow.
- 3
Clean and treat
We use the method that suits your roof, with a suitable treatment where it helps.
- 4
Gutters cleared
Debris from the clean is cleared out of your gutters.
- 5
Windows cleaned
Any windows affected are rinsed or cleaned afterwards.
- 6
Your aftercare advice
We tell you what to expect as the treatment carries on working.
Complete the roofline
Add exterior washing of your gutters, fascias and soffits, or a full gutter clearance, so the whole roofline looks crisp.

Years of organic growth, removed
A roof isn't only about how it looks from the road. Up close, growth settles into every overlap and ridge of the tiles, and that's where careful cleaning makes the difference.
Common Roof Concerns
Here's what we see most often on roofs.

Roof Cleaning Questions
Is roof cleaning worth it?
Yes. It lifts the look of your whole home, clears moss that holds moisture against your tiles and stops it dropping into your gutters. Where a treatment suits your roof, it keeps working to slow the moss coming back. If we don't think it's worthwhile for your roof, we'll say so.
What's included in a roof clean?
Moss removal, cleaning and any treatment that suits your roof, debris from the clean cleared out of your gutters, and any windows affected rinsed or cleaned afterwards.
Do you pressure wash roof tiles?
We don't blast tiles with high pressure. We choose the method to suit your roof, which can mean taking the moss off by hand and using a gentle, low-pressure treatment.
Will the result change after the visit?
Yes. Treatments carry on working after we've applied them, so the roof can keep improving after we've gone.
Will the moss come back?
A treatment helps slow it, and keeping a roof clear is far easier than dealing with heavy build-up later. We'll tell you what suits your roof.
Do I need to be in?
Tell us about gates, parking and access when you enquire and we'll plan around them.
Are you insured to work at height?
Yes. We work at height with the right equipment and carry £5 million public liability insurance, so you have total peace of mind.
Can you clean the gutters at the same time?
Yes. Debris from the roof clean is cleared out of your gutters as part of the job. Add a full gutter clearance or exterior washing of the gutters, fascias and soffits and we'll include it in your quote.
Can you clean extension, garage and porch roofs?
Yes. Tell us which roofs you'd like cleaned and we'll include them in one quote.
How long does a roof clean take?
We'll give you a clear idea of timing in your quote, based on the size of your roof and how we access it.
Why does moss grow on roofs in the first place?
Moss needs damp and shade to take hold, so north-facing roofs, those under overhanging trees and anywhere that stays wet longest tend to get it worst. Once it's established, it holds even more moisture against the tiles, so it tends to build rather than settle on its own.
What's the difference between pressure washing and soft washing on a roof?
Pressure washing relies on higher water pressure to strip dirt off. Soft washing uses low pressure with a treatment suited to the surface, which is why it's the right approach for roof tiles rather than a high-pressure blast. See our guide on pressure washing vs soft washing for the full comparison.
What roof materials can you clean?
Concrete tile, clay tile and slate are the most common roofs we work on across Swindon and Wiltshire. Tell us what yours is, or send a photo, and we'll confirm the right method for it before we quote.
Do you work around solar panels?
Yes. We work carefully around panels and any cabling while cleaning the roof. See our solar panel cleaning to add that to your quote.
Are the products you use safe for my garden, pets and any water nearby?
We choose the treatment to suit the roof and take care around planting, ponds and anything else nearby, covering or rinsing where it's needed. Tell us about anything you're concerned about when you enquire and we'll factor it into the visit.
What happens to the moss and debris afterwards?
It's cleared from your gutters and taken away with us. We don't leave it piled on your driveway or in your borders.
Do you offer a guarantee on roof cleaning?
We don't put a fixed guarantee period on it, because how long a roof stays clear depends on the tiles, the surroundings and the weather each year. What we can promise is a thorough job and, where a treatment suits your roof, one that keeps working on the moss after we've gone.
How do I get a roof quote?
Use the form, call or WhatsApp with your postcode and we'll arrange a free visit to look at the roof properly and give you an accurate quote. Photos from the ground are welcome and help us prepare, but every roof is different, so we assess it in person before quoting.
