Is Soft Washing Safe for Render?

Soft washing is a gentle, low-pressure way to clean render and K Rend. Here's what it is, how it works and why it beats a high-pressure blast.

What is soft washing?

Soft washing cleans with a treatment applied at low pressure, not a powerful jet of water. The treatment goes to work on algae, mould and dirt at the surface, and it's then rinsed away gently.

That makes it ideal for render, where high pressure can mark, roughen or damage the finish.

Why render needs a gentle approach

Render is a delicate finish. Blasting it can damage the surface, particularly on older or coloured render, and can force water into areas it shouldn't reach. Soft washing avoids that, because the treatment does the work instead of raw pressure.

What soft washing treats

Green algae and mould, dark streaks below windows, sills and gutters, and the general grime that dulls a rendered wall over the years. It works on K Rend, painted and coloured render and other rendered walls.
